The life of a family of models formed by a married couple and their two super fashionable and frivolous children will take a 180-degree turn when a Latina teenager, nonconforming and completely different from them, comes to live in their home. She will actually teach them what is important in life. The question is: Will they learn it?
This is Model Family, the smart, funny sitcom about the ups and downs of a family of models… that is anything but a model family.
They’re beautiful, they’re successful, their life is happy, carefree – and totally superficial. Mom and dad are models, their teen son is a high school heartthrob and their ten-year-old daughter is an influencer, an Instagrammer and a TikTok superstar. Their only disappointment in life so far has been to see their adorable, svelte little puppy grow (and eat) to become a dog with a serious weight problem (and the first signs of alopecia).
But their world is turned upside down when they share their home with Gaby, an outspoken, streetwise, 14-year-old Latina whose worldview is diametrically opposed to theirs. It’s like cats and dogs… Yoko Ono and Paul McCartney… orange juice and toothpaste… bathtubs and toasters. Their disagreements spill out of family life and into the local high school, the elite world of catwalk modeling – and even the city where they live.
But maybe, just maybe, in time Gaby can teach the family to become a little less selfish, a little more understanding of people who have suffered in life. Maybe they can learn that real beauty is on the inside. And maybe, just maybe, in time Gaby will find that the family can teach her… absolutely nothing. Well, almost nothing, because, – to her horror – she’ll end up learning the thirty different professional curly hairstyles you can create with a hairdryer.
